Covidien has distributed approximately 500,000 units worldwide thus far. The company estimates that roughly one-third of the surgeries in the world featuring the device use it in thoracic operations. The corporation is aware of 13 incidents involving serious injuries and 3 fatalities related to the use of the Duet TRS.
